Sheffield Steel - Mirage Mechanical

April 9, 2019

The Mirage Mod comes in a very well made tin with the Mirage logo etched onto the lid. Open it up and you’ll find a certificate of authenticity with a serial number that’ll match both the mod and dripper. You also receive a small disc, which can be attached to a key ring, to open up the mod. This certainly comes in handy when you don’t have any coins on you.

The Mirage is made in Sheffield, the heart of the British steel industry, and is crafted of the highest quality surgical grade stainless steel. This is one of the shiniest mods I’ve ever seen (I’d advise shades if the room is especially bright) and has “SHEFFIELD ENGLAND” engraved onto the button.

The machine is second to none and is probably one of the cleanest mods I’ve received.
The 510 and threads for the button are buttery smooth, and the same can be said for the 510 pin on the RDA.

The mod is a hybrid, which may scare some of you, however, you can be assured you won’t be grounding yourself out when you finally see the pin on the dripper. The boys in Sheffield knew what they were doing when they made the pin that long. It is a true hybrid, protruding so much I actually thought I had to screw it back in when I first looked at it. This is definitely a heavy hitting mod, with no middle man between the battery and the dripper. You can really feel the power every time you hit the fire button which has a very long throw to it - some of you may not like it but, personally, I prefer it. With no lock I still felt comfortable throwing this in my pocket simply because I knew nothing was going to press the button in far enough to fire it in my pocket.

Moving on to the dripper - it’s a classic design - three posts and four holes. The airflow suggests it was designed for cloud chasing but don’t let that fool you, closing it down can give you that restricted lung hit with some fantastic flavour.

It’s definitely an old school set up. With hybrids seemingly falling out of vogue it’s a breath of fresh air to be able to feel the full power again.

Not only does the Mirage look the part, it feels the part. It’s a hard hitting, very well made, piece of British engineering. I’d say a fantastic find for anyone looking to move into mechanical mods and, for a collector, the matching serial numbers definitely make it a nice addition to your collection. An all-round great setup for the vaper who likes their mechanicals.
